Balance allows us to focus on learning, not the baggage around it.

– Steve George, Prescot Primary

Assessment data is only useful if it is diagnostic and easy to use to inform next steps.  Balance has been created with sound and well-researched pedagogical principles in mind.  It is not only a solution to life beyond levels, but has also helped to transform the work-life balance of teachers in schools using Balance across the country.

If you are changing your marking and feedback policy to reduce a reliance on written feedback in favour of a variety of AfL techniques, then this session will be invaluable.

More Information:

During our hour and fifteen minutes together, we will start to evaluate why we assess children and how outcomes can be achieved without adding extra pressure to a somewhat ‘fragile’ teaching workforce.  At the end of the hour, we will have discussed practical ways for you to make feedback and assessment more manageable for teachers and most importantly, more effective for pupils.

Analysis is now not a tool simply for senior leaders, it is the starting point of all learning.

-Adam Vasco, St Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary School

Balance provides a framework with which to support changes to feedback, marking and assessment policy and ongoing learning journeys.  “Balance is the servant, not the master” (Alan Brown, Headteacher at Oldfield Primary).
